DC Gospel Jazz Conference Press Release

Washington, DC August 5, 2008-Damaljah Productions presents the first DC area Gospel Jazz Conference on Saturday, October 4, 2008, 3:00PM at Psalms 117 coffee house, located at 949 Bonifant St., Silver Spring, MD 20910. The conference is convened by gospel jazz saxophonist Todd Ledbetter. It was established as a vehicle to promote unity in the DC Gospel Jazz community, to provide a forum for the sharing of ideas and information, and to create more ministry opportunities for gospel jazz artists in the National Capital area.

Workshop facilitators include Rev. Nolan E. Williams, Jr., music editor of the African American Heritage Hymnal and Minister of Music at Metropolitan Baptist Church of Washington, DC; publicist Andrea Williams, CEO of Tehillah Enterprises; and producer and composer Terrence Richburg of Rich Escape music. The conference will also feature a ministry performance by Todd Ledbetter and special guest. The venue is centrally
located in the recently revitalized downtown Silver Spring corridor, and is convenient to parking, public transportation, hotels and restaurants.

The Washington DC metropolitan area is one of the largest markets for gospel and is also a strong market for jazz. Several top gospel artists call the region home, including Richard Smallwood and Byron Cage. The area also hosts a number of prominent churches. On the jazz side, DC is home to The Capital Jazz Fest, the largest live contemporary jazz event in the country. Its central location on the East Coast makes Washington DC the hub of a string of strong gospel and jazz markets from New York to Atlanta.
