Union Wesley African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church Sponsors Gospel Jazz Veterans Salute

 

Featuring Todd Ledbetter in Concert

 

WASHINGTON, D.C. — OCTOBER 12, 2010 — On Saturday, November 6, 2010, 4:00PM Union Wesley African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, located at 1860 Michigan Ave., NE, Washington, D.C. 20018 will be hosting a free concert honoring all veterans of the United States armed forces. The concert features saxophonist Todd Ledbetter, The Jazz Psalmist, with his band. Ledbetter has been ministering for over twenty years, and has worked with artists like Grover Washington, Jr., Bishop Walter Hawkins, Byron Cage, Bryan Wilson and Richard Smallwood.

 

The event will also mark the re-release of Ledbetter’s CD, Meditations: Hymns in the Key of Jazz. The public is invited to attend. Washington, DC August 5, 2008-Damaljah Productions presents the first DC area Gospel Jazz Conference on Saturday, October 4, 2008, 3:00PM at Psalms 117 coffee house, located at 949 Bonifant St., Silver Spring, MD 20910. The conference is convened by gospel jazz saxophonist Todd Ledbetter. It was established as a vehicle to promote unity in the DC Gospel Jazz community, to provide a forum for the sharing of ideas and information, and to create more ministry opportunities for gospel jazz artists in the National Capital area. The ticket includes a live performance by Ledbetter, special guest Mr. Young of Second Coming Entertainment, a copy of the CD, and a meet and greet reception with light buffet. Titled Meditations: Hymns in the Key of Jazz, this CD is a collection of favorite hymns and spirituals, plus an original title cut. The mood on the album ranges from “straight ahead” acoustic jazz, to contemporary “smooth jazz”, to several more traditional gospel selections.
